Monday 24 April 2017

Gheluvelt Park (life) and back home along the river, Worcester: Monday, 24th April, 2017.

12:00-ish:
Well into spring now and there are as many blossom petals on the ground as in the trees.
A sea of Bluebells.
We need a sense of scale so stand there Dave and don't move.
OK Vic.
12:30-ish:
A very welcome pot of darjeeling in Elgars.
Dodging the light showers on the way home.
2:15-ish:
No kingfishers in kingfisher territory today.
Just the sound of a woodpecker drilling on the far side of the river.
Nice.

Easter Sunday, 16th April, 2017.

A Very Happy Easter to all our readers.

Sunday 16 April 2017

WEC, Silverstone: Saturday, 15th April, 2017.

9:45-ish:
Arrived in good time thanks to there being very little traffic on an Easter Saturday.
WEC cars are out on track at Luffield for their final practice session.
10:15-ish:
WEC cars exiting Woodcote.
No time to waste on action shots.
Gotta get to the inside of Copse for the Formula 3 assembly
before the drivers get their helmets on.
10:30-ish:
Bother!
The drivers have got their helmets on already. Bit keen aren't they?
This is Mick Schummacher.
His father used to be a bit handy.
Howard takes a breather on the rear tyre of Mick Schummachers' F3 car.
Harrison Newey.
Someone else with a famous motorsport father.
Jake Dennis (F3 'veteran') and George Russell (ex-F3 and now GP3).
11:10-ish:
F3 race has now started.
This is Lando Norris exiting Copse.
11:15-ish.
Having a rest and a cuppa tea at Copse.
And yes, I need my hood up, it's cold.
12:25-ish:
ELMS Pit Lane Walk has started.
Graff Team drivers - Eric Troullet, Paul Petit, & Enzo Guibbert (all FRA) -
get down to some serious signing and smiling.
Thumbs up!
IDEC Team drivers:
Patrice Lafargue & David Zollinger (both FRA).
American Muscle.
It's just turned 13:00 and The WEC GT's are doing their qualifying.
This is the Ford GT of Andy Priaulx, Harry Ticknell, & Luis Felipe Derani (BRA), at Copse.
It has a very satisfying rumble.
13:35-ish:
It's the turn of the WEC Prototypes to do their qualifying.
This is the Toyota of Mike Conway (USA), Kamui Koboyashi (JAP),
& Jose Maria Lopez (ARG), exiting Aintree.
We're off for a gentle stroll to The Wing now.
14:00-ish:
WEC cars undergoing scrutineering.
14:25-ish:
The sun's come out (it came out a while ago actually) and all's well with the world.
14:30 bang-on:
Under a big-big sky.
ELMS 4 Hours of Silverstone rolling start.
15:35-ish:
WEC Pit Lane Walk.
Practice makes perfect for the G-Drive Racing Team.
Davide Rigon (ITA) & Sam Bird (AF Corse Ferrari GT drivers).
Vitaly Petrov (RUS).
16:40-ish:
Our feet are aching!
Time for another well-earned cuppa tea
(we only had 3 over the course of the day, plus drinks of water from a bottle we brought with us)
before one last walk through The Wing Paddock
and then the gentle trek back to the car park and home.
17:00-ish:
Toyota in the scrutineering bay.
17:15-ish:
ELMS action at The Loop.
They've still got an hour and a quarter to go.
19:00-ish:
It's not only an endurance event for the drivers.
Back home and climbing the stairs from the car park weighed down with bags, cameras, uneaten food and a cowin' umbrella (which we didn't need), and still managing a smile.
Only a scrote would take a photo in such circs.

Finally:
Some Fit Bit stats.
8.8 miles walked.
21k steps.
2,906 cals burnt.
36 stairs.

Thank you and goodnight.

Sunday 9 April 2017

Lovely spring day walk, Worcester: Sunday, 9th April, 2017.

2:00pm-ish:
Walking through College Green.
Note bag containing 2 new cushions from Next for the kitchen settee. £20 the pair.
Anything to help our economy.
David.
And The Cathedral obscured by leaves.
Another corner of College Green.
Someone who has been instructed to stand right there.

Aunt Louise's 93rd Birthday celebration, Erdington: Saturday, 8th April, 2017.

Auntie Louise selects her latest Audio Book at Erdington Library.
David, Kurt and Charlie just out of shot.
 Back home safe and sound.
Auntie Louise with Vicky, Kim and Kevin.
Cheers!
Auntie Louise is 93 on Tuesday and she's pleased with her cake.
Auntie Louise tries out her new sofa for the first time.
It's time to cut the cake. Yay!
Kim and Vicky help Auntie Louise recall all the people in her Wedding Album
of the day she married Uncle Sam in 1953.
And finally……Charlie and David.
Two chaps.
One quite olde and looking at the camera and one quite young and keeping
an eye on the conservatory where all the food is.

Vicky's 55th, Worcester: Friday, April 7th, 2017.

No time for Vicky to celebrate reaching her mid-fifties today.
She's got to get baking for tomorrow's joint celebration with Auntie Louise's 93rd.
Firstly, it's some Turkey Sausage Rolls.
Said rolls are ready for baking.
Drone Camera view of the Vegetable Rolls being prepared for the oven.

Sunday 2 April 2017

Bromyard Speed Festival: Sunday, 2nd April, 2017.

10:45-ish:
We have arrived at The Festival.
Old-fella feeling excited by the prospect of some impending Speed.
 A canine friend.
The Feds are on the streets of Bromyard.
Looking for offenders.
Spoilsports.
A Ford Anglia.
Yay!
Shame it's in grey.
Autograss cars.
Howard fancies joining The Laverda Owners Club.
Today!
Who can blame him?
Vicky and a Beer Garden.
Sorry, not our thing.
Fantastic 'bike.
When we were first together in '84 we had one exactly the same apart from the size of the engine, the wheels, the exhaust, and the colour scheme.
Other than that, it was identical!
Is this a Speed Festival or an excuse for a family outing?
I think we should be told.
The Stars of the Festival:
Land Speed Record Cars - 'Babs' and 'The Beast of Turin'.
Extra points for spotting Vicky taking a photo.
A trio of terriers steadfastly ignoring the action.
The Beast is cowin' quick!
Does 90mph in first gear at 1000 rpm.
The Beast at the end of its first run accompanied by 1927 Napier Blue Bird II.
Friendly Porsche co-driver and a reflection of Vicky.
Vicky and her least favourite car of all time: the Ford Focus (an insult to all Escort RS's).
A proper co-driver.
Herefordshire.
Lovely.
14:30-ish:
Walking back up the A44 to the car park.
Off to Suckley and Holloways next for some well-earned tea and sustenance.
