Sunday 29 April 2018

Hill Top Farm, Warwickshire: Sunday, 29th April, 2018.

Vicky can't resist a play with Zak the very old sheepdog.
We've even brought an old tennis ball for him to play with.
Vicky, Terry, Sue and Bob and the whole of Warwickshire.
Well, quite a lot of it.
Sue's photo of Vicky and Zak.
Sue's photo of 4 olde folks and an olde dog
stood on the top of a cold hill in Warwickshire
(Bob's caption).

Saturday 28 April 2018

MSA & NHCA British Hill Climb Championships, Prescott: Saturday, 28th April, 2018.

10:30-ish.
Arrived just in time to nearly miss Tony launching the Empire Evo off the start line.
Prescott's spring blossoms look a tad washed-out today.
Olde-fella under an umbrella.
We haven't seen a kingfisher in Worcester since early March
so it's good to spot one here.
A corral of motorcycle competitors.
Time to take some action shots from either side of Orchard Corner.
David Uren - 3,500cc Gould GR55B Cosworth.
There's something about an Escort Mk1 that stirs the soul.
This is Mark Linforth in his.
Keith Wilson - 1330cc MG Midget - is cracking on a bit, isn't he?
Is he gonna make it…………….
…………..um, no.
The 'bikes are on the hill now.
When we say 'on the hill' we are, of course, using the term loosely……
………move on, nothing to see here.
Tommy Hodges - 613cc KTM SMR - rediscovers the tarmac.
It's slippery out there as Mark Short (we think) - off his 550cc Aprilia - has just found out.
Thomas Short - 613cc KTM - shows how it's done.
Definitely an advantage to have a third wheel in these conditions, we think.
Simon & Jayne Foster - 600cc Honda FZ.
Lunch is over and the cars are back on track.
Guess wot? We've missed Tony again so we make do
with a shot of Bill attacking the hill in the Evo
on the approach to Pardon Hairpin.
Alex Summers - 1070cc DJ Firehawk Suzuki - at roughly the same spot.
2:30-ish.
It's really raining now and Tony and Paula welcome Bill back to the paddock as we head back to the car and the drive up the M5 to Droitwich for our big shop.

Sunday 22 April 2018

The Donkey Sanctuary, Sutton Park, Birmingham: Saturday, 21st April, 2018.

11:30-ish.
Parked up and walking thru' Sutton Park in search of The Donkey Sanctuary
to meet the two donkeys we have adopted for Vicky's birthday.
Aha. I think we've found it.
Meeting the donkeys.
Moses.
Vicky's adopted donkey No 1.
He likes to keep himself to himself.
Vicky gives Shocks (her adopted donkey No 2)
a fuss whilst holding two mugs of tea.
Skill.
With the two mugs of tea finished Vicky can really get into Shocks' tufty bits.
In the mane (groan).
Some mutual grooming.
Very important.
Heading back to the car.

Friday 20 April 2018

The Malvern Hills (with Rog): Friday, April 20th, 2018.

10:45-ish.
Looking north towards The Worcestershire Beacon.
We are walking south today.
More hills but not as steep as our usual walk.
The view to the west.
Hazier than last time, but still lovely.

Saturday 14 April 2018

King King, Huntingdon Hall, Worcester: Saturday, 14th April, 2018.

Support band The Peace Pirates on stage………
…..and off stage selling and signing stuff.
Vicky liked 'em so much she bought their CD.
Blimey.
King King.
Absolutely f*ck*ng awesome.
Already got some CD's by them.
Alan Nimmo.
He's Scottish y'know.

Wednesday 11 April 2018

Auntie Louise's 94th, Erdington: Wednesday, 11th April, 2018.

Vicky, Auntie Louise (in a birthday top) and a cake.
David, Auntie Louise (in a birthday top) and a cake.

Sunday 8 April 2018

Vicky's Birthday, Gloucester Docks: Saturday, 7th April, 2018.

15:30-ish.
We arrived here at 11:30 and have done some browsing in the Gloucester Quays shops, watched the dystopian 'Isle Of Dogs' (highly recommended) at the flicks, eaten at Carluccio's and, now it has stopped raining, we can take a wander around Gloucester Docks to walk it off a bit.
Boats and apartments:
modern Gloucester Docks in a nutshell.
The last time we visited here 'Kaskelot' was being re-furbished in the dry dock.
Today, there is much activity on board and it seems that she'll
soon be heading downstream to the Severn Estuary and beyond.
Vicky dreams of setting sail.
16:45-ish and it's time to leave after having browsed some more shops
on the way back to the car park at The Quays.
We did actually buy summat eventually.
Another rucksack. You can't have enough rucksacks.

Friday 6 April 2018

Ludlow Food Centre: Friday, 6th April, 2018.

We're here to buy some birthday food treats for Vicky.
There's a new layout. We don't like it. Too industrial.
The food's still good tho'.

Thursday 5 April 2018

Severn up & up The Malverns (with Roger): Thursday, 5th April, 2018.

9:30-ish.
Lower footpath is now submerged.
The Severn was predicted to peak yesterday but it is still rising today.
The racecourse is under rain water not river water.
11:00-ish.
The view to the west from halfway up The Malverns……..
…….and the view to the east from a little further up……...
…….and, finally, the view to the north from The Worcestershire Beacon (the highest point).
11:30-ish.
Glorious views. Glorious weather.
Time to return to the car and drive back to Worcester.
