The Wedding of Elizabeth and John, and The Baptism of George: St Nicholas Church, Forest Hill, Oxfordshire, Saturday, 28th May, 2016.

1:55pm: St Nicholas Church.
We have arrived with just 5 minutes to spare thanks to problems on the M40.
Some well-wishers are still stuck on the motorway, evidently.
The view from the cheap seats.
We should get an excellent view of the bride's entrance unless……….
…..The Reverent requests that the congregation 'all rise'.
Oh well.
About to exchange vows.
John and Elizabeth are wed and The Vicar is now topping up the font
with cool water to ensure a 'George-friendly' temperature.
George is unceremoniously lobbed into the font.
Phoebe carries George as the wedding/baptism party exit the church.
Enthusiastic confetti-lobbers gather outside the church.
Vicky in keen anticipation of some good old-fashioned confetti lobbing.
A whole lot of lobbing going on.
Graham and Pat: the proud parents of The Groom.
4:00pm-ish:
Cutting the cake at the Reception held at Horton-cum-Studley's Village Hall.
Pedants take great delight in spotting the surplus-to-requirements Full Stop.
We know our place.
Two men in suits.
Graham has worn his suit 4 times in the past 30 years.
David has had to wear his twice in 4 days (a funeral, a wedding, and a Baptism)
but can't remember when he last wore it prior to that.
My son's just done what?!
Vicky, Pat, and Sue discussing Fascinators (possibly).

Friday 27 May 2016

Elgar's school, Worcester, Friday, 27th May, 2016.

At last, we've remembered to take a photo of Elgar's old school in Britannia Square.
Of course, it isn't a school nowadays but we think you can get the drift.
Note remarkably well preserved 'bike shed, just behind the hedge, where the great man
(whilst still a lad) used to store his push 'bike between epic rides
to The Molineux and back to watch The Mighty Wolves.

Today's sounds:

Digital pre-morning walk:
John Mayall's Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton.
Incarnate - Panic Room.

Vinyl 45's whilst Vicky worked from home this afternoon and David did some ironing:
Making Plans For Nigel - XTC
Why - Carly Simon
Are Friends Electric? - Tubeway Army
Totally Devoted To You - Olivia Neutron Bomb (we still call her that)
Mind Blowing Decisions - Heatwave
Just An Illusion - Imagination
To Cut A Long Story Short - Spandau Ballet
My Perfect Cousin - The Undertones
Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick - Ian Dury & The Blockheads

Memories, memories.

Tuesday 17 May 2016

Working from home, Tuesday afternoon, 17th May, 2016.

It's a hard-knock life.
Emlyn's first wander outside the apartment to an accompaniment of slurping.

Oh yes, before I forget, I have been listening to Tales From The Topographic Oceans by Yes.
Let's just say it's not one of their best and leave it at that.

Saturday 14 May 2016

Blancpain GT Series, Silverstone, Saturday 14th May, 2016.

No need for elbows.
Gaps through the fencing are at a premium.
Right. Time to go and get some lunch at The Paddock Cafe.
Sausage (3), Mash, mixed veggos and gravy for David.
Baked potato with tuna and salad for Vicky.
Oh, and 2 cups of tea, obviously.
1:00-ish.
There's young and then there's really young.
Robert Shwartzman (RUS) gets ready for the start of the Renault 2.0 NEC race.
Vicky's head has been turned by a Lambo in black!
Just 'cos you own a 'supercar' doesn't mean you can park it anywhere yer like.
1:30-ish.
Ready for the Renault 2.0 NEC race which was won by……………
…………...Max Defourney (BEL).
Time for a wander 'round the paddock now.
2:00-ish.
Close-up shot of Bentley GT3.
Very nice (the car, not the shot).
Cowin' heck. Dani's here!
He's much taller than you'd imagine.
Scott's here too (in old colours)!
Not to mention Kimi!
Kimi?
We said not to mention Kimi (with a big thanks to Spike Milligan).
Note how Kimi is bonding with an animal from his neck of the woods.
Bentley drivers head for the GT3 Driver's Briefing.
It'll be summat to do with 'Track Limits' we wager.
3:00-ish.
Lambos ready to rock.
Lambos leaving the paddock.
(Do not enlarge. Diabolical picture quality).
Note to self: must stop blogging movies taken with our Digital Compact.
3:30-ish.
Catching some zeds prior to the start of the Lambo race.
Denis Lind (DEN) won the Lambo race.
4:30-ish.
GT3's at Luffield.
Time to head back to the car park now.
We forgot to set our Fit Bits when we arrived but they tell us that we've walked
over 6 miles all-told today.
We'd say that 5 of them were walked here.
It's been something of a fleeting visit (for us) 'cos Emlyn hasn't been well lately and we don't want to leave him alone for too long.
We have a good run home (back at 6:15) and Emlyn is very pleased to see us.
So much so that he has a huge 'proverbial' after his evening dinner of Ocean Fish.
It's a seven-incher! A new Emlyn record. He's been holding that one in for 2 days!
Just thought we'd mention it.

Monday 9 May 2016

It's too hot, Worcester, Sunday, 8th May, 2016.

Just gone 2:00pm:
It's 24 degrees and so certain people of a certain age think it's cool
to wear shorts of a certain length in public.
They're everywhere!
In the shade we're in the mood for a selfie.
In the sun we're just grumpy.
Roll on October.
The appropriately named Elgar Street where the great man composed his epics between cycle rides to The Molineux (and back) to support The Mighty Wolves.
If we remember we'll take a photo of where he went to school.
It shouldn't be too hard, we walk past it most days.
Just gone 5:00pm.
After a slow trudge into town and back (just under 6 miles in total) we arrive back home to find someone is not on his blanket. He's on the sheet!
At least he looks suitable guilty.

Latest sounds recently arrived:

The Machine Stops - Hawkwind
Divides - The VirginMarys
Introvertigo - Dan Patlansky
The Circle And The Blue Door - Purson
Desire's Magic Theatre - Purson

Tuesday 3 May 2016

Desserts:
Meringue with Passion Fruit Cream, Fresh Raspberries, and a Raspberry Coulis for Vicky.

Beautiful flowers.
Are these some that David bought for Vicky or are they simply on display in M&S.
You decide.
A selfie of the happy couple under a blossom tree in the park on the way home.
Blossom, unfortunately, just out of shot thanks to the angle-of-the-dangle being all-wrong.
4:00pm-ish.
Oh, you've come home have you?
Back at HQ, somebody couldn't give a flying-frick about whose anniversary it is.

We walked nearly 8 miles yesterday and nearly 6 miles today.
Vicky says she is looking forward to going back to work tomorrow for a rest.
Much later:
And so to bed.
