Thursday 31 March 2016

BSB Test Day, Donington Park, Thursday, 31st March, 2016.

Melbourne Hairpin: always a good place to start the day.
It's about midday and the weather is so good it's as if we have been transported to a brand new Motorsport Facility in the Caribbean. It must be 15 degrees at least and there's not a breath of wind.
Having dressed in layers we can safely say we have got at least two too many layers on!
Nice chain flex:
Shane Bryne on the run down to The Melbourne Hairpin.
You need a high vantage point to see above the safety fencing.
Right, that's enough of taking action shots, lets have some lunch whilst the cafe is quiet and then take a wander 'round the paddock.
Vicky and a biggun.
They're getting younger and younger:
MotoStar rider Jake Archer.
Luke Hedger.
Michael Rutter.
A wheelie good time (groan).
The 600's are on track now and this is Wayne Ryan (Tsingtao Hampshire MV Agusta).
Wandered over to the infield now and no-one is unhappy that The Craner Hostility Suites have been demolished - least of all us.
600's at Hollywood.
Wagtail enjoying the view from the new infield spectator banking at Craners.
Luke Mossey exits Redgate.
Let's end with a tradition shot of the Redgate apex.
This is Ben Wilson in Gearlink Kawasaki leathers but riding a 1000cc Superstock EHA Aprilia
(you can't fool us, Ben).
Right, it's now just gone 3 and it's time to go.
Don't wanna get snarled up in any rush hour traffic on the cowin' M42.
Back at the car and Vicky's back and feet are aching. So are mine!
Hardly surprising as, apart from when we sat down in the cafe for lunch, we have been on our feet for just over 3 hours and have walked 3.75 miles.
Howard just thinks the whole thing is too funny.
Cheers Howard.

Sunday 27 March 2016

BARC Silverstone Easter Sunday Funday, 27th March, 2016.

Oh the indignity.
Ferried about from pillar to post just 'cos I've got a touch of arthritis.
Don't forget to shut the door when you go out.
Blimey, you don't get this many cars at a normal club meeting.
Clubmans Sports at Luffield.
Perfectly normal colour for the mid-1970's.
Appropriate dress code for a spring day out at Silverstone.
Classic FF1600 pole-sitter.
Appeals to all ages.
Crowd puller.
Not in black but, other than that, near-perfect.
MV ready for it's close-up.
When is a headlight not a headlight.
Vicky and her trucks - it's a recurring theme.
Trucks olde and new.
One of Nico's?
People all over the shop.
Little Black Corvette.
Super Karts from left to right.
Super Kart from right to left.
Back at the car and it's time to change back into driving shoes.
3.5 miles walked at Silverstone today.

Saturday 26 March 2016

In search of The Futon Co, High Street, Cheltenham, Saturday, 26th March, 2016.

According to its web site The Futon Co is located at this salubrious address on The High Street.
But when we get there the premises are empty and The Futon Co have not yet moved in.
Cowin' internet.
Never mind. There are plenty of interesting streets to explore nearby.
Like this one……..
………..and this one.
Black bird singing in the dead of day.
Vicky is not enchanted with The Enchanted Tea Room
and is disenchanted with both Subway and Lidl yonder.
Sheltering from the showers by seeking refuge in Carluccio's.
Then it's off home via a stop at M&S Home where, despite parking right outside the door, we get drenched as we run the whole nine yards into the entrance.
We've seen the shelves we want, now all we have to do is order them on the internet.
Cowin' internet.

Sounds (whilst doing a pile of ironing this morning):
'Look At Yourself' - Uriah Heep
'Going For The One' - Yes (both vinyl).

Late afternoon walk, Pitchcroft, Worcester, Good Friday, 25th March, 2016.

Tree fellers felling machine parked up for the Bank Holiday.
They've also hacked away at all the little branches that grow at the foot of the trees.
So, Worcester Council, where are all the wrens and robins (our National Bird, lest we forget) gonna live now?
Ah well, never mind, as long as yer tree felling/trimming budget is spent in this financial year.
On the way home and Vicky is almost but, crucially, not quite, balancing a tree on her bonce.
Clever that.

Some 'spacey' sounds today:
'A Conspiracy Of Stars' - UFO
'Man It Feels Like Space Again' - Pond
'Cobras And Fire - The Mastermind Redux' - Monster Magnet.

Thursday 24 March 2016

It's tennis, Jim, but not as we know it: Gheluvelt Park, Wednesday, 23rd March, 2016.

It's important to warm up properly.
Firstly, let's start off with a little side stretch.
Then follow that up with a bit of a spinal stretch.
Or you can simply prat about like a pillock.
Your choice.
Splendid action shot of Vicky's killer forehand.

Sounds:
'The Astonishing' - Dream Theater.
'Off The Wall' - Michael Jackson (Vinyl).

Tuesday 22 March 2016

Worth a photo? Worcester, Tuesday, 22nd March, 2016.

Narrow boats on the river in March?
Easter must be early this year.
Rare to see one let alone two at this time of year.
Both boats going very steady. Note lack of wash.
Proper canal boat enthusiasts respecting the speed limit.
Not like the cowin' tourists who'll be out when the weather gets a bit warmer and seeing how fast their hire boat can go and to hell with any damage to the river banks.
OK, lecture over.
Tree fellers felling trees.
Recently felled bits of tree (aka branches).

Today's sounds:
'Dear Silence Thieves' - Dan Patlansky
'The Plague Within' - Paradise Lost
'American Trash' - Beauvoir/Free
'One Way Ticket To Hell….And Back' - The Darkness

Vicky's at work today so she'll be listening to Heart FM in the car.

Wednesday 16 March 2016

Anyone for tennis? Gheluvelt Park, Worcester, Tuesday, 15th March, 2016.

No walk today.
Instead, we're here to play our first game of 'tennis' since last May when David got his RSI and so hasn't wanted to risk his wrist until now.
We played for an hour and a quarter.
Lovely day for it.

New feature on our blog alert!

Soundtrack of our lives:

'Last Of Our Kind' - The Darkness
'Psychic Warfare' - Clutch
'Innocence & Decadence' - Graveyard.

Good, eh?
