Maiden journey for Auntie Louise and her new wheelchair, Erdington: Sunday, 26th February, 2017.

11:00am-ish.
The chair has left the boot of the car, been assembled inside, wheeled back outside,
Auntie Louise is sat in it, and now it's time to go back to the car and set off.
We have arrived at the Retail Park and are determined to assist the economy with a few major purchases - shoes for Dave and a poof-thingy for Auntie Louise -
(after having a large Latte, for Auntie Louise, and two pots of tea for us first of course).
2:30-ish.
Safely back home, with the wheelchair having been given the thumbs-up by all concerned,
and making sammidges.
Salmon for Auntie Louise and Vicky.
Cheese and tomato for Dave (the tea maker).
All on granary bread.
Lovely.

Doris has left another calling card, Worcester: Saturday, 25th February, 2017.

12:30-ish:
No trees have fallen down along the exposed banks of the river yet one has
lost a branch or two in the more sheltered park.
This is the tree sans one or two branches.
Vicky giving the scene a sense of scale.
Kingfishers and Grey Wagtails wont be happy about this.
The wood doesn't look particularly rotten.
But, hey, it was blowy on Thursday.

Thursday 23 February 2017

A bit breezy: Worcester, Thursday, 23rd February, 2017.

11:45-ish.
Cripplegate Park is a veritable Crocus Ocean.
Gheluvelt Park must try harder.
12:00-ish.
Doris has arrived and has been raging all morning.
Tree Fellers are busy sawing up a fallen tree at the junction of Castle Street and Severn Terrace.
Luckily for the owners of the cars (and a 'bike) their vehicles were all up wind and the tree only damaged the iron perimeter fence.
Good job I didn't walk home along the river.
I wonder how many fallen trees I will discover along Pitchcroft tomorrow?
12:15-ish.
Nearer home, along Park Avenue, and this is the extent of the damage in more sheltered parts.

Tuesday 21 February 2017

Flowers and swans, Worcester: Tuesday, 21st February, 2017.

10:10-ish and on the way to The Doc's.
What better way to take the mind of it than to stop
and take some photos of the narcissi in Gheluvelt Park.
11:30-ish and, having had a cuppa tea and toast in town to keep us going we are now 'round the back' of The Cathedral, in College Green, where some planters have been …….um…….planted.
Very nice.
Another planted planter in College Green.
Crocuses above South Quay and below the Tech College.
Feeding time for the swans.
No not us. Those people up there.
Pigeons are too busy courting to worry about the food.
12:15-ish.
A singleton swan heads down the river towards The Cathedral and feeding time.

Monday 13 February 2017

A slow walk: Worcester, Monday, 13th February, 2017.

11:45-ish:
We've already done a one hour fitness session at Perdiswell so today's walk into town and back is just a toning down-jobbie. No rush.
Kingfisher territory.
No kingfishers today (boo!).
Saw one last week so we're up to 25 sightings now.
A backlit Vicky by the river.
Off into town now for summat to eat and to do a bit of food shopping.
2:15-ish:
Nearly back home as we pass some crocuses in the Park.
It'll be spring soon!

Today's Fit Bit stats:
Dave - 17,197 steps, 8.14 miles, and 18 stairs.
Vicky - 17,000 steps, 7.1 miles, and 141 active minutes.

Sunday 5 February 2017

Diglis Bridge and back, Worcester: Sunday, 5th February, 2017.

View from the 'other side' of the river as swans get a feed.
A rare moment of isolation an a day when loads of folk are out and about.
The weir with Diglis Bridge in the distance and still at least half a mile away.
View north to Worcester from Diglis Bridge.
Are we nearly there yet, Vic?
Olde fella looking forward to a nice cuppa tea in Worcester.
The Worcester & Birmingham Canal joins The Severn.
Vicky fails to look at the camera.
Part of Worcester Cathedral from College Green.
Snowdrops.
Spring will soon be here!
Edgar Gate.
Built in the 13th century.
Time for tea and a ham hock ploughman's cob for Dave and tea and toasted tea cake for Vicky.
That should just about keep us going on the homeward leg.
No kingfishers in kingfisher territory on account of all the folk out and about.
Fit Bit stats today:
David: 17,042 steps, 8.04 miles, and 8 stairs.
Vicky: 19k steps, 8.1 miles, and 157 active minutes.
