Prescott Speed Hill Climb, Saturday, 25th April, 2015.

That won't come out pt I….
….told ya.
Yer slow shutter speed is too slow!
11:30-ish and we're in The Paddock.
This is Scott Moran (tightening his nuts) and Alex Summers who now share this 3,500cc Gould GR61X - NME, now Roger Moran has retired from hill climbing.
Blossom and cars: our glorious spring continues.
It never ceases to amaze that Vicky, even when surrounded by cars and 'bikes, can spot a Golden Labrador (look closely) in the back of a van from 50 paces.
Making friends with Zeus.
We could be here for some time.
It's approaching midday now and we need to get to the Bugatti Club House for a snack.
A pastry and tea for Vicky and a cheese and bacon pasty and tea for David.
£7 the lot. Bargain.
We shall come here again.
It's approaching the lunch break and the 'bikes are on the hill.
Martyn Robbins (from Worcester - note sparks from left boot) looks quick on his 637cc KTM.
That won't come out pt II…...
….not too bad. Yer getting better.
This is Marc and Simon Foster on their FII Honda 600.
How to have legal fun in a production saloon.
12:30-gone now and we are at Pardon Hairpin.
Hmmm, Vicky has got distracted yet again.
This time by a bluebell wood.
Oh, very Pogle's Wood.
Meanwhile, behind Vicky's back, cars continue to hurtle up the hill.
Now what's Vicky taking a photo of……?
…..aha! It's a view of the hill.
Very 'edge of The Cotswolds'.
It's 1:15 and the last car before lunch approaches The Esses.
Time to nip back to the car for our turkey-mayo sammidges washed down with a carton of orange juice.
Don't ask how we got our Lancer up here, but we did.
On previous visits we've always managed to park quite easily on the flat land below but this time the club has devoted half of that land to competitors motorhomes and what not.
Our advice, if you are thinking of coming to Prescott, is to get here nice and early.
Vicky's view from the top of the hill looking north-west-ish.
Things start up again at 2:00pm and we spend about an hour watching the action from Orchard Corner which brave drivers (and riders) take flat out, evidently.
This is Richard Brown in his 1137cc Turbo OMS CF07 - Honda.
At 3:10pm it's time to go 'cos we've gotta get back up the M5 to Droitwich to do the 'big shop'.
It's 4:00pm and we are safe and sound in 'the big shop' and enjoying a well-deserved cuppa tea.
Only our second since we left home at 10:15 this morning.
We're not as young as we were!

Saturday 11 April 2015

WEC, Silverstone, Saturday, 11th April, 2015.

10:20-ish: inside of Brooklands corner and ready for the first Euro F3 race.
We arrived at 9:50 and parked up in a very busy car park. This meeting is getting more popular with every passing year. It was cloudy when we arrived and bitterly cold. The sun is out now but it is still a 'four layer day'!
Distance walked so far: 0.5 miles.
10:30-ish:
35 F3 cars out on track.
The meat in this particular sandwich is Sergio Sette Camara of Brazil.
11:00-ish:
We are now in the National Paddock and one of the many F3 non-finishers is brought back to the Scrutineering Bay.
Distance walked so far: 1.0 mile.
11:05-ish:
ELMS cars leave the pit lane for their qualifying session.
We'll see their race later so now's the time for us to get a cuppa tea in the Paddock Cafe.
11:45-ish:
Had tea, too hot to finish it all. Now on the outside of the track at the approach to Copse.
ELMS LMP2 Murphy Prototype hurtles past as we make our way to the National Pits Straight Grandstand for the WEC Qualifying.
12:15-ish:
Sat in the grandstand now as the best sounding WEC GT passes by
(Larbre Competition Chevrolet Corvette C7).
Distance walked so far: 2.0 miles.
12:40-ish:
'Silent assassin' Audi exits Woodcote.
12:50-ish:
Back at the inside of Copse and the F3 teams are ready to go out for their second race.
This is Callum Illott, by the way.
Distance walked so far: 2.5 miles.
The eyes have it:
Tatiana Calderon (COL).
13:00-ish: ELMS Pit Lane Walk.
Sir Chris Hoy, a fan, and Charlie Robertson (we think).
AF Corse drivers show off their cool shades to Vicky (well, two of 'em do).
Don't tell Bradley Smith, but this could be what he'll look like in about 35 years time.
Won't be so clever then will he.
Signing stuff is thirsty work.
Racing cars - being worked on.
13:50-ish:
We've had lunch in The Paddock Cafe and another well-earned cuppa tea.
Finished in time to see all the F3 cars come back to parc ferme after their second race and have followed the drivers to the weighing in-thingy.
Which one of these young-fella-me-laddoes will get into F1 (if any)?
Distance walked so far: 3.0 miles.
14:35-ish:
We're on our way to The Wing and are at The Loop.
The ELMS 4 Hour race has begun but some folk can't even get past the first corner on the first lap - the Safety Car is out already as this damaged car limps back to the Pits (he'll be popular).
15:00-ish.
Arrived at The Wing.
Nice car, shame about the van.
Distance walked so far: 3.5 miles.
15:15-ish:
Vicky refuses to walk another foot unless she gets another cuppa tea and who can blame her?
Distance walked so far: 3:75 miles.
15:30-ish:
Mute swan nesting in the rushes of the 'lake' behind The Vale Grandstand.
A bit noisy but a very safe place for raising a family.
15:45-ish.
ELMS action at the entry to Club.
'Ah look, it's time I was outta here.'
16:00-ish and back in The Wing again now for our annual Mark Webber sighting.
Distance walked so far: 4.0 miles.
'Yeh, I've got potatoes. I'll give you good price.'
16:30-ish.
Caught a shuttle bus (to save our legs) to get us to the outside of Club Corner.
Sir Chris Hoy is still hammering around.
Time for one more cuppa tea and then the long walk back to the car park which is even busier than when we arrived.
Total distance walked today: 4.5 miles (at least).
Departed circuit at 16:50.

Tuesday 7 April 2015

Vicky's 53rd, Tuesday, April 7th, 2015.

11:00am and Howard has booked Vicky a table at Holloways, her favourite foodie/country store in Worcestershire, for breakfast.
Vicky chooses the homemade muesli (there's enough for three helpings - she can't eat it all) with blueberries and fresh figs.
Needless to say, David doesn't (he can eat it all).
The view over Worcestershire from Holloways 1st floor gallery.
2:20pm and we've been in Worcester for an hour and a half window shopping in all of Vicky's favourite shops.
Not much bought yet but we are in need of a cuppa tea and so stumble into the Chocolate Deli.
The trouble with Chocolate Deli's is that they are jam-packed with chocolate.
The trick is to avoid eye contact.
2:45pm and Vicky has actually bought something.
A new pair of sandals (always a pleasure to give the economy a boost) followed by a raid on the M & S food department.
3:15pm and we're now in Carluccio's for dinner (bruschetta).
Howard is pleased to see that Vicky has had a meat-free day………..
…..needless to say (Pt II).
4:00pm: Vicky finishes things off with vanilla ice cream with salted caramel and crushed Amaretti biscuits topped with a wafer.
4:15pm: time to brave the evening traffic, go home, feed Emlyn, and have a nice little rest!
