When is a Monday not a Monday? Friday, 13th February, 2014.

Vicky normally gets a Monday off nowadays but as she has to meet with some software companies to review systems (yawn), so she has taken her Monday off today.
So it's a walk into town through the park, and a touch of redwing spotting (they're still here) on the way, then some lunch and shopping, followed by a walk back home along the river.
The first crocuses of the spring are coming out. Aren't they even earlier than usual?
At The Turkish Place (aka Elgar's) for a spot of lunch.
Vicky chooses a CLT with darjeeling tea……
….David opts for the soup of the day (carrot and coriander) with a doorstep cheese sammidge and a touch of salad (but not too much), washed down with a pot of decaf tea.
By the time we have finished our shopping it is raining so we don't bother with the walk back home along the river.
Friday the 13th strikes again!

Sunday 8 February 2015

Gheluvelt Park, Sunday, 8th February, 2015.

A lovely winters' day and so it's a pleasant 4 mile stroll into town for some shopping, tea and cake, and then back home along the river.
Here's a dodgy shot of a redwing in the park.
Last year we said that they migrate here from Scandinavia but we lied.
The ones' from Scandinavia stay on the eastern side of the UK so this one must be from Iceland.
With things warming up (i.e. above 5 degrees) at the moment, they'll soon be flying north to cooler climes once more.
Slightly dodgy shot of Victoria 'cos David forgot the camera was still on it's zoom setting (doh).
David in Vicky-pleasing coat and scarf combination.
