Upton-upon-Severn, Saturday, 8th September, 2012.

There are lots of odd little shops in Upton aimed at all the day visitors (like us) who come here in the summer. Like this one, for instance, where you can buy a painting of Cal Crutchlow, or John McGuiness, amongst others or, if you are completely daft, a lurid hologram of Valentino Rossi riding a Ducati Moto GP 'bike. They do have some landscapes and so on but there's not so much interest in those.
Bugger! We've missed the Post.
Of course, what you mustn't do is actually venture inside one of these odd little shops, 'cos if you do you finish up spending lots of money quite unexpectedly and well over budget. Still, as evidenced by David's guilty smile, the purchase of the two slot cars now gripped tightly in the plastic bag has sorted out his Christmas presents for this year. Vicky quickly tires of his constant 'is it Christmas Day tomorrow?' Can't reveal what they are yet, said too much already. Let's just say we'll be having a Classic Saloon Car race on the Barbourne GP track on Boxing Day and leave it at that.
Vicky and Howard inspect Upton's new flood defences. They say they are both looking forward to returning and hope to see fish swimming by in the flood waters thru' the glass. David is not so confident that a few glass panes and some dodgy brick laying will be up to the job. You're on yer own with that one guys!
Like we said, Upton is geared up for day visitors but, for reasons best known to the towns landlords, only one Pub is doing food today. This is not one of them.
Upton's road bridge is a clunky affair but, having recently been repainted, the underside has by far the best aspect.
