Evesham Cats Protection, Sunday, 23rd September, 2012.

And the one at the back
Said everyone attack
And it turned into a Ballroom Blitz.
Rocky: not necessarily strong, but still going.
And when they were up they were up
And when they were down they were down
But when they were only halfway up
They were neither up nor down.
Feeling lucky, punk?

Two of us are nice. Two of us aren't. Go on, put yer hand in and we'll prove it!
Last month we told you about Tango and Nico and the saga of trying to get them re-homed.
Nico is now re-homed but Tango is back with us after his re-homing didn't work out (we do not know why yet).
It now seems likely that he will join the ranks of the 'let out daily's' that are permanent residents at the CP.

For now, he is in quarantine, and he's not all that hap about it.

It's not an easy life, is it?

If it wasn't for the sound of slot cars racing around in me 'ead I'd be fast asleep.

Ferrari Racing Days, Silverstone, Saturday 15th September, 2012.

Vicky is in heaven today. Wall-to-wall Ferraris. In fact, there are so many of 'em here that there's a danger of 'em losing their allure!
The problem with a busy paddock is that silly olde dozy buggers can walk into yer photo at any given moment.
People stand around a F1 car for simply hours just staring at the thing. Funny lot.
Somebody very rich but not necessarily particularly famous driving a fairly recent F1 car quite quickly as part of the F1 Clienti Programme. Alright for some.
Vicky is getting ever closer to her Testarossa dream car. Nissan GTR's in black, Audi R8's, and Jensen Interceptors are now all things of the past.
An ambition realised. Vicky is at the wheel of a Ferrari. However, she is outraged to learn that the 458 Spider doesn't even do 200mph: it only does 199. Can't you just sense her disappointment? And that lad's crestfallen.
Don't worry if you can't afford a Ferrari. Just do what these folk have done and make one up from bits and bobs lying around the paddock. Job done!
Setting a new Guinness World Record for the most single-make cars on a race track: over 1,000 Ferraris dawdle towards Luffield. Well, a few of them.

All-in-all a very enjoyable day in wonderful weather. Would have been even better with a few more classic/historic Ferraris.

Can't stop and talk any longer, gotta go and buy some lottery tickets.

Sunday, 9th September, 2012.

The trouble with our summers (when we get one) is that they are so cowin' humid. Yesterday was warm but fresh so, perhaps, we should have gone to Upton today rather than do a six mile round walk to the new footbridge across the river and back. We took the time to visit a tea room in town on the way  (and on the way back) but David is still having a bit of a funny turn by the time we get to the bridge. Never mind the humidity, it's all these funny angles, Vic, he says, and the bouncy nature of the bridge. Yer can't beat a good old fashioned clunky straight-lined bridge like the one at Upton.
See what we mean about all these funny (jaunty) angles?
One and a half miles back to the nearest tea room and then another one and a half miles from there back home. Remind me: whose idea was this keep-fit lark?

Upton-upon-Severn, Saturday, 8th September, 2012.

There are lots of odd little shops in Upton aimed at all the day visitors (like us) who come here in the summer. Like this one, for instance, where you can buy a painting of Cal Crutchlow, or John McGuiness, amongst others or, if you are completely daft, a lurid hologram of Valentino Rossi riding a Ducati Moto GP 'bike. They do have some landscapes and so on but there's not so much interest in those.
Bugger! We've missed the Post.
Of course, what you mustn't do is actually venture inside one of these odd little shops, 'cos if you do you finish up spending lots of money quite unexpectedly and well over budget. Still, as evidenced by David's guilty smile, the purchase of the two slot cars now gripped tightly in the plastic bag has sorted out his Christmas presents for this year. Vicky quickly tires of his constant 'is it Christmas Day tomorrow?' Can't reveal what they are yet, said too much already. Let's just say we'll be having a Classic Saloon Car race on the Barbourne GP track on Boxing Day and leave it at that.
Vicky and Howard inspect Upton's new flood defences. They say they are both looking forward to returning and hope to see fish swimming by in the flood waters thru' the glass. David is not so confident that a few glass panes and some dodgy brick laying will be up to the job. You're on yer own with that one guys!
Like we said, Upton is geared up for day visitors but, for reasons best known to the towns landlords, only one Pub is doing food today. This is not one of them.
Upton's road bridge is a clunky affair but, having recently been repainted, the underside has by far the best aspect.

Friday, 7th September, 2012.

Emlyn is not daft (oh no). He knows that sunshine has been at a premium this summer and so when he spots some flooding into our living room he's in like Flynn. And (worra bonus) there's a comfy quilt airing to boot. However, by 11:00am the sun moves on from our east-facing living room so, by the look of that shadow, he's only got about an hour left. So, make the most of it Em!

And yes, of course I rubbed his tummy and, yes, it was nice and warm.

Tuesday, 4th September, 2012.

Tony has arrived to try out the latest incarnation of the Barbourne GP track and he's bought with him a secret weapon:  a Revell Trabant, complete with the strongest magnet known to Man, that he bought for £7 from a shop in Brighton many moons ago but has not had the opportunity to try out until now. The magnet is so strong that, at first, the Trabant can't complete a lap without the magnet dropping out of the floor of the car and clinging stubbornly to the track whilst the rest of the car, suddenly rendered almost uncontrollable, carries on without it. A swift application of Loctite Superglue rectifies the problem and within minutes the 'Angry Ant', as it is now known, is thrashing the cream of our Le Mans cars with ease.
Tony, Emlyn and David are all amazed at how fast that Trabant can go around CD Drawers Hairpin (and all the other corners and down the straights for that matter). Unfortunately, it is also too swift for the camera. So, that was £7 very well spent then. David instructs Tony to return to Brighton forthwith with an increased budget. Revell Racers: they're the way to go!

Two things to note about David in this photo: 1) that bite on his right shin (that'll teach him to play tennis down the park with Vicky on a warm damp evening) and 2) how he's cleverly balancing a picture on his right shoulder. Good eh?

Evesham Cats Protection, Sunday 2nd September, 2012.

Tuts wasn't such a 'friendly boy' when we went in to clean him out. Not exactly unfriendly, but definitely a bit nervous.

Understandable really, given the circs.

Some newcomers need a little bit of gentle encouragement to remind them that they need to eat.
Tango (at the back) and Nico have now been at the CP for about three months. They would like to be re-homed as a pair.

It looks as if they will have to go to different families to get re-homed.

Not ideal.

It's my pen and I'll sit where I like, thank you.
