Swan watch update, Gheluvelt Park, Worcester: Sunday, 10th June, 2018.

10:15-ish.
The good news.
The cygnet is alive and well and on an adventure
with Dad (and some mallards) up the Brook.
The bad news.
Mum only has one egg.
The other has been predated by summat overnight.
Dad and the cygnet are back in the pond and attracting a crowd.
Grey Squirrel.
Halfway up a tree.
Vicky along The Brook spotting fish and damselfly.
A bee working hard to keep the whole planet going.
A narrow boat passing through.
1:30-ish.
Back from town to find that Mum has
covered the egg up and is off to the pond.
Vicky feeds the troops with Swan Feed bought
from The Pumphouse Environmental Centre.
£1.50. Bargain.
The cygnet seems to have been attacked by summat since yesterday.
It keeps scratching the wound every now and again.
Fingers crossed it is not infected.
Mum gives herself a well deserved wash and brush up.
The cygnet doesn't appear to be getting any bigger in the
body (or wings) but its neck is definitely extending………….
………but it's still got some way to go before it can feed off the bottom of the pond.
It knows what to do tho'.
Mum comes out of the water and back to the nest……...
………followed by Junior.
