Centre Court, Wimbledon, Tuesday, 28th June, 2011.

1) Strawberries and cream in the Court No 1 cafe-thingy. Well, for £2.50, you've got to, haven't you?

2) Top of 'Henman Hill' and it's drizzling again. But what's this? Re-sale tickets for the Centre Court going for a tenner each? Get in the queue Vic!

3) It's gone eight o'clock and the roof is now on. Still time for a set of Ladies Quarter Final tennis before home time. Not bad seats either.

4) Protagonist no 1: lovely unflattering shot of No 4 seed Victoria Azarenka (BLR).

5) Protagonist No 2: even more unflattering shot of Tamira Paszek (AUT) wiping her nose on the back of her wrist. She lost in straight sets.

First set finished at just gone 9. Swift walk back to the Park and Ride bus stop for the bus back to Merton College. Left Lunnon just gone quarter past ten. Got home quarter-to-one. That's two very late nights on the trot. We're not as young as we were. Can we have a day off tomorrow please?

Wimbledon, Tuesday 28th June, 2011.

1) Howard and Vicky are much happier now they have seen Rafa and it has stopped raining. The covers have come off on the outside courts and it's time to seek out some actual tennis.
2) These line judges have every reason to be happy. They get to see Rafa all the time and don't have to pay!

3) We've chosen to watch at Court 17. Well, it was the first one we came to and a match was about to start, so why not? This is an umpire. Obviously it's an outrage. She's far too young and feminine to control a match let alone the hurly-burly petulance of a girls singles.

4) Protagonist no 1: Jesika Maleckova (CZE). She's seeded so she must be good.

5) Protagonist no 2: Danelka Borthwick, not seeded but the British no 1 in the juniors. We'll support her then.

6) Jeremy Bates. Remember him? He's here to make notes on Ms Borthwick's progress (she won in straight sets - yay!).

7) Ball boy might be thirsty but he must not show it (oh no).

Waiting for Rafa: Wimbledon, Tuesday 28th June, 2011.

1) They said there was a good chance of thunder storms. 'They' weren't kidding. It began as we drove up and over the Chilterns on the M40 and lasted until we parked up at the Park and Ride at Merton College. Unsurprisingly, things are a tad damp by the time we arrive at just gone four. But whats this? Howard is excited. The air is electric with anticipation. Rafa is due to arrive to test out his dodgy ankle on a practice court. We are instructed by our companion to head for the players changing rooms. David has a sense of deja vu: it's gonna be just like waiting for Barrack, only different.

2) There's a bit of a media scrum lying in wait for Rafa. Other players come and go. Nobody's interested in them. Rumour has it he will be here at 4:30pm, but it is still drizzling, so who knows?

3) You've gotta have something for Rafa to sign.

4) It's now almost 5:30pm, the rain has stopped, and more camera-type-persons have turned up. Get ready..............here he comes!

5) The great man is here. There's mucho jostling. It's all very unseemly. Very un-British. To think, we had a prime position a nano-second ago. It's dog-eat-dog in the world of sports photography.

6) The great man strides off towards the practice courts. Looks fine to us. Might still put a fiver on him.

Bon Jovi, Ashton Gate, Bristol, Monday 27th June, 2011.

Our one and only photo of the gig taken by Vicky on our new mobile 'phone. David deleted all the shots on the Pentax thanks to pressing the 'dustbin' button twice by mistake whilst reviewing them the following morning when he was, and I quote, 'a bit tired'. Classic. As for the gig it was a goodun. Vicky gave it 8/10. David gave it 9/10. The Park and Ride got a solid 0/10.

Saturday, 18th June, 2011.

Summer's well and truly here. The pleasant dry sunny weather of spring has been replaced by mild, humid and damp conditions. It certainly suits some locals better than others.

Evesham Cats Protection, Sunday 12th June, 2011.

1) David, man of cats, is overwhelmed by Pandora and assorted friends. What on earth has he done right?

2) Elsie is replete and has, ahem, dropped off to sleep for the duration.

3) This months 'ah bless' moment.

4) Lucy and Vicky in the process of telling somebody young 'it's for yer own good'.

Silverstone Moto GP, Saturday 11th June, 2011.

1) Each year we come to the GP we ask ourselves 'will this be the last time we see Loris? He was supposed to retire at the end of last season yet here he still is. Will we see him next year?
2) Last time we saw Cal Crutchlow at Silverstone he was totally dominant in WSBK. This morning he one of the quickest in Moto GP Free Practice. What can possibly go wrong? Let's just say the stalls selling No 35 T shirts and flags will have a lot of unsold stock left when they go home and leave it at that.

3) You have to put a lot of leg work in at Silverstone to get the most out of it. We've left the new Startline Grandstand, walked into the middle and had some brunch at the Cafe in the old Paddock, chatted with some of the riders in the Triumph support race, walked under the tunnel at Copse and made our way to the Becketts Complex to watch the 125's. Taken about 90 mins at a nice-stroll. This is Jonas Folger on his Aprilia at Chapel in case you were wondering.

4) We're just past Stowe now. They said the Wing was finished but they lied. Look, they've added a strip of red trim to the roof since last week. They can't fool us (oh no).

5) Now we're at Club Corner and we've stumbled upon three stewards, five Smurfs, and a bloke with a mohican (amongst others). Where do they think they are, cowin' Glastonbury?

6) Yay! Scott Redding doing his best to make up for Cal's demise with a stirling second place in Moto 2 Qualifying. Certainly stirs the olde cockles.

7) Bradley Smith spent most of Qualifying in the pits trying to get his bike to go faster than he can run. He only managed two laps and finished up way down the grid. Not good. Still, they say it will rain tomorrow, so you never know, he might improve a bit.

8) Vicky and Howard are overwhelmed by the tension at the start of the Red Bull Rookies Cup race.

9) Red Bull Rookies Cup rider Aaron Espana (he's from Spain, spookily) is in the process of throwing his toys out of the pram after finding out that kerbs can be a tad slippy when wet. He's young and he'll learn. He did get a nice round of applause for his efforts.

We'll just watch the start of the Triumph race then nip off home 'cos we're not as young as we were and are a bit tired (well, we have been here seven and a half hours and walked three miles at least). Besides we have to get up early tomorrow for our monthly stint at the Cats Protection.
