Afternoon walk along the river, Worcester: Sunday, 30th August, 2020.

Heron: in flight.

Water Rail: it likes this jetty.

Chatting with a local.

Evening meal:

Chicken and Pea tray bake, with baked new potatoes.

No swans but plenty of other birds spotted in the park and along the river, Worcester: Friday, 27th August, 2020.

We've glimpsed a swan and cygnet upstream but no amount of shaking

can persuade them to turn around today.

Seconds later we see a kingfisher flying across the river and then fly

further upstream and out of sight.

We also see, as we walk along Pitchcroft, a Treecreeper, a few House Martins

(most have gone south now), a Buzzard, and a Cormorant, plus more common

species such as a Robin, Magpies, and numerous Pigeons.

                                                                      Big sky over Worcester.

Taking shelter from the rain.

Two people sheltering from the rain.

Evening meal:

Tuna steaks with roasted sweet potato and vegetables.

River's rising, the swans are still hungry, Worcester: Thursday, 27th August, 2020.

The jetty is now flooded but the swans stay around here 'cos one

of the families that live by the river feed them on a regular basis.

Today's feeding frenzy.

Passing swan comes to close so 'our' swan parents get territorial:

Jog on pal. Nowt for you here.

Vicky, the swans and a passing narrow boat.

Chocolate and fudge marble cake.
Scrummy.

Evening meal:
Turkey meat balls in a ragu sauce with linguini.
Another new one. Another winner.

The river's still here shock, Worcester: Wednesday, 26th August, 2020.

Interaction with a local.

'Our' swan family are on a slightly flooded jetty today.

Guess what? They're hungry.

The happy couple (is that a smile Vicky?).

Another walk along the river, Worcester: Tuesday, 25th August, 2020.

'Our' swan family are downstream today.........
........and it's amazing how well they can hear the shaking of a swan pellet container from so far away
given the strength of the 'breeze' today (and how much energy they have to extend against the
flow of the river for that matter).
Today's feeding frenzy.

Cooler today and all the better for walking.
We're walking back upstream and 'our' family are now downstream from where we saw them last.

But all our food has gone so we can't go any closer as we'll only build their hopes up.

Evening meal (a new one):
Home made turkey burgers, potato wedges, sweet potato wedges,
mushrooms, sweet corn, salad, and coleslaw.
That's a winner.

Big Shop, Droitwich, and a walk to the chemist and back, Worcester: Monday, 24th August, 2020.

Wiping the trolley down.
I'm going in.
Wish me luck.
Swan family is back in Vines Park after going missing last week.
Vicky gives it a good old rattle but there are no swans upstream........
.......or downstream today.
All prepared for the interior of the chemists.

A walk along the river and back, Worcester: Sunday, 23rd August, 2020.

We've spotted a swan upstream so it's time to give the swan food a shake.
It's the mother swan.
The father and cygnets aren't far behind.
Now we have the whole family.
Guess what? They're hungry.
Vicky's been coached.
She's smiling and has managed to stay awake today.
We've walked down the river and back up it and now we are almost back to where we started.
The swan family are still under the wall and telling everybody that they haven't
been fed by anybody today and are terribly hungry. Almost starving. Honest.

Walk along the river, Worcester: Saturday, 22nd August, 2020.

Cygnets nearby and parents with cygnets downstream.
Time to give the swan food a shake.
Feed the cygnets and then we'll need to move down
the river a bit to feed the rest of the family.
Parents and two cygnets tucking in.
Something tells us the other four cygnets are still hungry.
Feeding everyone.
Gulls don't get a look in.
Sunlight on the river.
I'm going to take a selfie Vic.
Don't forget to smile and, whatever you do, don't fall asleep.
Flower bed in the park.

Swans on the river, and other stuff not on the river, Worcester: Friday, 21st August, 2020.

Jog on pal. Nothing for you here.
'Our' parents in territorial mood see off an interloper.
The epitome of aggression.
Food pellets save the day and the interloper is able to get away.
The whole family together in a feeding frenzy.
Apples on a garden wall.
Time for a non-Big Shop.
Just milk and salad required today.
