11:30-ish:
We have arrived, we're in the overspill car park, and Vicky
is changing her shoes.
But never mind all that - look at the sky.
A glorious day in prospect.
Straight into the paddock where the 'fast' drivers are
getting ready for the last of their morning runs.
The happy couple on the high slopes of the paddock.
Bill puts his back into it.
Paddock marshalls and a road legal Alfa.
Lee Griffiths - 1660cc OMS 25 Suzuki - heads for Orchard Corner.
Already crowned the 2019 British Hill Climb Champion,
Wallace Menzies - 3300cc Gould GR59 Cosworth - enters Orchard.
Right, time for our lunch.
Roast Beef dinners and a cup of tea to wash it down.
Very nice.
Post lunch group photo.
Richard, David, Paula, and Vicky.
So which David was it who said
'we better not leave it another 55 years David'?
The first Top 12 Run Off is taking place before the actual lunch break
and this is 2018 British Hill Climb Champion - Trevor Willis -
3200cc OMS 28 RPE - spinning his rear tyres prior to his run.
2:30 is fast approaching (unlike the first of the Bugatti's
that's scheduled to start at that time - it's a saga, don't ask)
and we have had plenty of time to walk almost to the top of the hill.
Richard and David take up a low-altitude viewing
position at Prescott's 'Pest Bring' (ask Richard).
The Bugatti saga continues and some folk
can't see the wood for the trees.
Olde fella up the top of the hill and getting ready.
Paula Levitt - 1840cc Mazda MX5 - rounds Semi-Circle.
Julian Harber - 1340cc British Leyland Mini Clubman -
exits Semi-Circle and heads for the finish line.
Yes, I know it's your new favourite car Vic,
but where are you going to put our luggage?
Very arty self portrait.
This is the sort of photo you take when you're waiting
for the Bugatti drivers to get their act together.
They eventually chug past.
Now it's time to slowly walk back down the hill
taking photos as we go, of course.
Robert Kenrick - 1024cc GWR Raptor 2 BMW - exits The Esses.
Mark Lawrence - 1000cc OMS 3000m Suzuki - does the same.
We're nearly at Pardon Hairpin and Tim Elmer -
1998cc Dallara F399 TKD - is blasting out of it.
Peter Tatham - 1300S OMS 25 Hyabusa -
fails to locate his brake pedal at Pardon Hairpin………
……..and flies across the gravel trap to give the barrier a heavy thump.
He's lost a front wheel and other bits and bobs but, apart from that,
we are very pleased that he's safe and well.
The break in the action, whilst they salvage the car, gives us enough
time to get down to lower levels without missing any action.
Handy.
On the way we check that The Malvern Hills are still there.
Phew! They haven't moved.
5:15-ish and the second Top 12 Run Off is taking place.
Alex Summers - 2500cc DJ Firestorm TME KF - heads for Orchard Corner.
Final goodbyes and then we head back to the car………
……where Vicky changes her shoes again.
Lovely day, lovely weekend.
