Carbis Bay: Christmas Day, 2018.

Our new family member: Douglas the Scottie Dog.
Christmas Day breakfast I.
Christmas Day breakfast II.
About to cross the railway track and begin our walk along the coastal path.
No trains today, of course.
It wouldn't be Christmas Day without
some fungus lurking around somewhere.
Above the beach to the west of Hayle
(not sure what the beach is actually called).
Beach Christmas Tree designer finishes
designing a Beach Christmas Tree.
Carbis Bay beach from the coastal path.
It's a tricky descent.
Aiyeeee! Theres' a wave coming in!
Aiyeeee! There's a wave coming in!
Someone fascinated by a fascinating grotto.
Christmas hats appear to be quite popular today.
Two old wrecks on Carbis Bay Beach.
Vicky at her favourite end of the beach.
Taking it all in.
And there's a lot to take in.
About to leave the beach and start the climb back home.
Someone's trousers are covered in sand
and mud and need a good wash.
Christmas dinner is served.
A Very Merry Christmas to one and all.

Carbis Bay to St Ives on foot and return by rail: Christmas Eve, 2018.

Overlooking the south end of Carbis Bay beach
and about to take the steps over the railway line.
The view to the north across Carbis Bay beach
to Hayle and the Godrevy Lighthouse.
Not many sections of the coastal path are as flat as this.
Are we nearly there yet Vic?
No Dave. Keep walking.
St Ives from above Porthminster Beach.
Avoiding the crowds by using the side streets.
On Porthmeor Beach.
Gnarly coastline to the south end of Porthmeor Beach.
Not many waves, not many surfer dudes.
Godrevy Lighthouse from the north end of Porthmeor Beach.
Wandering around the harbour.
Vicky's favourite card emporium.
Tea with Coffee and Walnut Cake and two spoons.
Time to get on the 4:05 train to Carbis Bay except that
the five-past-the-hour trains don't actually stop there.
We should have got one of the five-past-the-half-hour trains.
Ah well, we stay on the train and get a nice ride along
the coast to St Erth, then back again to St Ives,
before departing St Ives at 4:35 and getting off at Carbis Bay five minutes later.
We live and learn.

Carbis Bay to St Ives and back on the train: Sunday, 23rd December, 2018.

Even on a grey day St Ives looks lovely.
More supplies purchased and the local economy saved.
Making our way around the harbour.
A local keeping an eye on things.
No seals or dolphins here today.
Don't worry, we'll keep 'em peeled.
Porthgwidden Beach.
The tide is almost back in and dogs are running out of play-space.
It's a concern.

Port Isaac, Polzeath, Rock, Constantine Bay, Treyarnon Bay, and Carbis Bay, Cornwall: Saturday, 22nd December, 2018.

Just enough time, after breakfast and before we have to check out,
for a quick stroll along the coastal path at Port Isaac.
It's a bit breezy Vic.
Seagulls ignore the wave action at the entrance to Port Isaac's harbour.
View over Port Isaac prior to checking out.
The beach at Polzeath.
Time for tea and biscuits in Polzeath
before heading further south.
Padstow from Rock.
Where Vicky bought supplies of bread for the next couple of days.
Constantine Bay.
The almost-mythical Treyarnon Bay.
David last stood here 51-and-a-half years ago.
Of course, everything was much bigger in his yoof and
he's almost certain that those houses weren't built back then.
View over Treyarnon Bay from the spot where the
Ice Cream & Clotted Cream vendor used to be.
David was a regular customer. Very regular.
Safely ensconced in our Carbis Bay home-from-home and watching
another splendid episode of Say Yes To The Dress - Randy Knows Best.
Quality TV.
