10:45-ish and we have parked up at the top of the hill where
a batch of riders are waiting to ride back down to the paddock.
We're gonna like it here.
Olde fella concentrating hard and watching out for those tricky surface changes.
Somebody is getting distracted.
Easily done here.
Tony Penton wheelies his KTM SM between the finish line cones.
About halfway down the hill now as Rob Drake & Liz Millet
blast past on their KTM Sidecar Cross-thingy.
Something different.
We've crossed over 'the hill' and Vicky's concentrating again.
This is Nigel Glover on a Yamaha SR doing the honours.
Nope. Vicky's got distracted again and spots the
paddock below and the Atlantic shoreline.
She's concentrating again.
The startline with Lundy Island on the horizon.
Paul Jeffery - KTM SM - is about to depart.
Oops.
Not every rider makes a perfect start.
Some people help. Some people take photos. Some people eat ice cream.
Andy Moore - Suzuki - is about to blast off but Vicky has her eyes on The Hartland Quay Hotel.
It's almost lunchtime and we haven't had a proper breakfast yet so we are a touch hungry.
Whilst Vicky is ordering tea and some lunch the riders
are still completing their morning un-timed runs.
This is Callum Short - KTM - giving the Hotel a wide berth.
We've had our lunch now and it's the lunch break for the competitors.
Now is a good time to explore the shoreline for a few minutes.
This is the view to the north east…….
…..and this is the view to the south west from the same spot.
Two happy hill climb fans at sea level.
A paddock girl by the Atlantic Ocean.
The grass bank opposite the start line is gloriously soft and comfy.
Vicky lies back and takes a nice low shot of Richard Peaty - KTM - heading for the first hairpin.
Note fella in top right corner scoffing an ice cream.
They've got everything here.
Mark Short - KTM SM - rounds the Hotel Hairpin.
No idea if that is the name of this hairpin but that's what we are calling it from now on.
We're halfway back up the hill and so is Nigel Glover - now on a Velocette.
Tommy Hodges - Honda CRF - never one to hang about much.
Contemplating Devon, The Atlantic Ocean, and Lundy Island.
Oh, and the hill climb.
Rock climbers.
Not to be confused with hill climbers.
Spot The Rider.
Our great new idea to help raise money for The ACU Ben Fund.
The person who puts an X closest to the riders head wins £5.
Become a marshall and get closer to the action.
Richard Barker - KTM SMR - blasts towards the finish line.
15:00-ish.
We're nearly back at the car park and the tide is coming in now.
We've had a fantastic time here.
Might be a bit different if it was wet and windy.
Off down the coast to Bude next.
