Canal walk, Worcester: Tuesday, 30th October, 2018.

It's a walk in to town and back via Perdiswell and then down the canal today.
Our mission is to see if we can find the swans from Gheluvelt Park.
We chat to two pairs of swans (this is the first pair) but neither are 'ours'.
The mystery remains unsolved.

The Malverns (with Roger): Friday, 26th October, 2018.

Wales is over there.
Cheltenham is down there.
Panoramic view towards Wales.
The view over Malvern.
We've reached the top and there's a…..ahem……bracing wind
coming from the North West today.
There's some rain showers coming as well by the look of things.
Well, it is late October.
We've found a little bit of shelter and are now sat down
on a bench drinking our traditional tea with biccies.
The wind is still strong and is trying to blow our mugs of tea off the bench.
It's all downhill from here, thank goodness.
Halfway back down now.

End of the day Fit Bit stats:
15,456 steps.
7.29 miles.
68 stairs.
2,971 cals burnt.

River Severn walk, Worcester: Wednesday, 24th October, 2018.

Swans, cygnets (now almost fully grown) and The Cathedral.
Some autumnals.
Birds of a feather.
Narrow boat drag race from Sabrina Bridge.

Into Worcester and back: Monday, 22nd October, 2018.

Gheluvelt Park.
Arrival at The Cathedral.
Vicky says this is The Bishop's House.
Take a photo Dave.
OK Vic.
Today is the anniversary of Vicky's Mum's passing.
The Cathedral's Vault.
Back outside The Cathedral again and feeling hungry.
In Elgars now and it's toasted granary bread
with butter and jam for Vicky and……
…….curried carrot soup with a granary cheese sammidge for David.
On the way back home now and someone's shoelace has come undone.
Again.
Looking forward to getting back home now
and the chance to have a rest and put our feet up.
13,394 steps.
6.32 miles.
2,356 calories burnt.
7 stairs (so far).

Another Sunday, another walk, Worcester: Sunday, 21st October, 2018.

Faded blooms.
Someone's shoelace has come undone. Again.
Quick! Let's take a selfie before the sun goes in.
Vicky's Bonce-cam captures mallards feeding on swan food.

Sandwell Crematorium & Witton Cemetery: Saturday, 20th October, 2018.

These little fellas get everywhere.
Remembering Vicky's Mum.
Remembering Vicky's Dad.
Just a small corner of Witton Cemetery,
within a most welcome giant oasis of calm.

Friday, 19 October 2018

Croome Park, Worcs (with Roger & Val): Friday, 19th October, 2018.

Heron.
Not in the optimum place to catch a fish.
Heron.
In the optimum place to catch a fish.
Backlit Mother Nature on a sunny fresh autumn morning.
You can't beat it.
Great spot to take a rest.
Two very olde fellas slurping tea and scoffing biccies, thankfully, just out of shot.

Saturday, 13 October 2018

Gheluvelt Park, Worcester: Saturday, 13th October, 2018.

Sitting down on the job of feeding the ducks…...
…….and standing up.
Please note that the cygnet is no longer in the park.
It disappeared a couple of days after it's parents.
Word in the Park is that it will have gone up The Brook to the canal.
Perhaps we'll have a walk along the canal
at some point to see if we can spot it.

Tuesday, 9 October 2018

Bude, Cornwall: Sunday, 7th October, 2018.

4:00pm-ish.
Bude Canal.
Looking for somewhere to have a cuppa tea.
Revived by tea, we are now at the entrance/exit of the canal.
Summerleaze Beach.
The tides coming in much quicker than we anticipate.
Time to get a move on.
Wot it says on the tin.
People-tolerant cormorant dries its wings next to the canal.

NHCA Hill Climb, Hartland Quay, N. Devon: Sunday, 7th October, 2018.

10:45-ish and we have parked up at the top of the hill where
a batch of riders are waiting to ride back down to the paddock.
We're gonna like it here.
Olde fella concentrating hard and watching out for those tricky surface changes.
Somebody is getting distracted.
Easily done here.
Tony Penton wheelies his KTM SM between the finish line cones.
About halfway down the hill now as Rob Drake & Liz Millet
blast past on their KTM Sidecar Cross-thingy.
Something different.
We've crossed over 'the hill' and Vicky's concentrating again.
This is Nigel Glover on a Yamaha SR doing the honours.
Nope. Vicky's got distracted again and spots the
paddock below and the Atlantic shoreline.
She's concentrating again.
The startline with Lundy Island on the horizon.
Paul Jeffery - KTM SM - is about to depart.
Oops.
Not every rider makes a perfect start.
Some people help. Some people take photos. Some people eat ice cream.
Andy Moore - Suzuki - is about to blast off but Vicky has her eyes on The Hartland Quay Hotel.
It's almost lunchtime and we haven't had a proper breakfast yet so we are a touch hungry.
Whilst Vicky is ordering tea and some lunch the riders
are still completing their morning un-timed runs.
This is Callum Short  - KTM - giving the Hotel a wide berth.
We've had our lunch now and it's the lunch break for the competitors.
Now is a good time to explore the shoreline for a few minutes.
This is the view to the north east…….
…..and this is the view to the south west from the same spot.
Two happy hill climb fans at sea level.
A paddock girl by the Atlantic Ocean.
The grass bank opposite the start line is gloriously soft and comfy.
Vicky lies back and takes a nice low shot of Richard Peaty  - KTM - heading for the first hairpin.
Note fella in top right corner scoffing an ice cream.
They've got everything here.
Mark Short - KTM SM - rounds the Hotel Hairpin.
No idea if that is the name of this hairpin but that's what we are calling it from now on.
We're halfway back up the hill and so is Nigel Glover - now on a Velocette.
Tommy Hodges - Honda CRF - never one to hang about much.
Contemplating Devon, The Atlantic Ocean, and Lundy Island.
Oh, and the hill climb.
Rock climbers.
Not to be confused with hill climbers.
Spot The Rider.
Our great new idea to help raise money for The ACU Ben Fund.
The person who puts an X closest to the riders head wins £5.
Become a marshall and get closer to the action.
Richard Barker - KTM SMR - blasts towards the finish line.
15:00-ish.
We're nearly back at the car park and the tide is coming in now.
We've had a fantastic time here.
Might be a bit different if it was wet and windy.
Off down the coast to Bude next.
