Worcester, Sunday 27th May, 2012.

Dappled sunlight and a hard wooden floor. Ah yes, those were the days. I still yearn for the time when I lived at Evesham Cat Protection and had just two meals a day and slept on a hard wooden bench. I really must send Angela an email and beg for her to take me back.

CSCC, Silverstone, Saturday 26th May, 2012.

Off out, are you? Alright for some. How long did you say I have to sit here and wait for the gizmo to come 'round?
Chap of a certain age, in shorts of a certain length, takes photo of a car of a certain age, with a gadget of a certain size.
Although Howard is not ten until next year he has been busy telling anyone who'll listen that he was always a big fan of Gerry Marshall and Baby Bertha back in the day. Oooh Howard, your nose will grow.
I say old chap. Steady on. It's not cowin' rally cross!
Traditional shot of Vicky with one of those red things from Modena (and a red 'Q' reg-thing that we couldn't identify). Vicky would like it known that there are two things worth visiting Modena for. The said red things and...............balsamic vinegar!

Olympic Torch, Worcester, Thursday 24th May, 2012.

The excitement is building with 30 minutes to go.
A word from one of our sponsors.
A high-five from another of our sponsors.
Aiyeee, a Bright Green Christmas Reindeer is trying to grab me torch!

Worcester, Tuesday, 22nd May, 2012.

Summer's arrived and so have some cygnets.

Every year the question remains: how many will survive?

Paws 'n' claws, Sunday, 20th May, 2012.

Apologies if we've pointed this out before, but not everyone who lives here is an avid fan of Moto GP.

Barbourne GP Circuit, Sunday 13th May, 2012.

Four more straights from Jadlam Racing means the track has reached the limits of our living room. It's not so much the space as the fact we've now run out of travel books.

Evesham Cats Protection, Sunday 13th May, 2012.

A perfect day for taking the high ground.
Contemplating an appearance but will probably stay put, thank you.
Not everyone is happy to be cleaned out as Vicky can testify today.
Two people popular with visitors today for some inexplicable reason.

Ludlow Spring Festival, Saturday 12th May, 2012.

Much Ado About Nothing indeed. Nice drive here and it's a lovely day but this Festival makes the Pershore Plum Festival seem world class.
Not much in the way of food stalls and the Classic Car bit costs two quid each and there's only a third of the cars at Pershore (which is free).

Vicky is happy in her Jenson Wonderland tho'.
On the way back home we stop off to pose in front of one of Worcestershires' many rape seed fields. Well, if it's good enough for coach loads of tourists from the Far East and SE Asia, it's good enough for us.

Birmingham, Sunday, 6th May, 2012.

I dunno. We come into town in good time so we can actually shop in a shop, only to be told that they don't stock the shoes David wants but, y'know, he can visit the website and get 'em from there if he likes.

'Supposing they don't fit?', we don't say.

Ah well.

On the upside we have a good few minutes to kill before we meet Caroline and Richard for a much anticipated Italian meal and a catch-up. Gives us a chance to watch some Moto GP 'action' on the big screen in Victoria Square. Note that David has no time for pigeon enquiring re bread or, for that matter, the 'Floozie In The Jacuzzi'.

26th Anniversary, Thursday, 3rd May, 2012.

For the first time in 26 years the weather on our anniversary is actually as bad as the day we got married. Good job we made the most of yesterday's dry conditions then.
So we decide to drive out to Holloways for an anniversary lunch. Vicky has the beef salad while David, true to his promise of less salads from now on, goes for the cottage pie option. Scrummeeee! Shan't say what we had for dessert. Said too much already.
What better way to finish off the day than nipping down the local polling station to send out a message to The Coalition. Unfortunately, the party we vote for normally are so used to losing in Worcester that they haven't bothered to put up a candidate. There are only three choices. It's against our religion to vote Tory or Lib Dem so we vote ................... well, that would be telling (you can look it up, they won!)
Crisis? What crisis??

The Cotswolds, Wednesday, 2nd May, 2012.

Looking at, and touching, very old things in The Corrinium Museum, Cirencester.
Enjoying a cuppa decaf at Keith's in Cirencester.
Bibury, and the most photographed cottages in The Cotswolds.
David is very proud of his salad diet. Trouble is, his first salad (in Circencester at 1pm) came with a Spanish Omelette the size of a plate and this one (in Burford at 4pm) was accompanied by two fried eggs, ham, and chips.

Vicky has made him solemnly swear that he will not have another salad until at least tomorrow (we shall see).
The Wise Olde Man of The Cotswolds resides in Burford.
Just browsing but, of course, there's no rawk (and precious little rowl either).
Howard doesn't want to leave Burford but it is time to go home (boo!).

N.B. Oh yes, a river update: The Severn has peaked now and is no longer flooding onto the Racecourse, although the cricket ground is under some water. The local paper says the river is now about 5 metres deep (the record is 5.25 metres (approx) in July 2007. However, as we drove down the M5 today, The Avon was about a half-mile wide next to Evesham. Neither of these rivers effect London so you wont see anything about the floods on national TV.

Wednesday, 2 May 2012

Tuesday, 1st May, 2012 (Part II).

It is now about 7:30 and it has finally stopped raining. We didn't walk up town this afternoon in the end and so have come down to look at the river for a post-dinner constitutional. Swans and kyakers glide past our feet above where the lower tow path used to be.
This is one of the two initial points where the river floods onto the racecourse.

Tuesday, 1 May 2012

Tuesday, 1st May, 2012.

Midday, and the river is just about to come over. This is not the first place it floods onto Pitchcroft. That's about 300 yards upstream (see below).
No way through here. Time to take a detour.
Guess why houses next to the river are built in this style.

We'll be walking into town later today, but it won't be along the river.

Monday, April 30th, 2012.

The River Severn continues to rise. This was taken at about 12:20. Where David stood yesterday is now 6" under water.
Just five hours later the water has risen another 6". We reckon it will on the racecourse sometime tomorrow, especially as more rain is forecast for tonight and into tomorrow morning.

It's a weird feeling to walk along the riverbank and have rowers from the local club skimming past level with your feet.
