Carbis Bay to St Ives and back: Boxing Day, 2016.

9:00am-ish and the view inland promises a day of fine weather.
Our second walk of the holiday along the coastal footpath to St Ives.
We are now on Porthminster Beach and the weather is living up to its promise.
Ye Gods!
What manner of lunacy is this?
We have stumbled upon the Boxing Day midday 'dip'.
I feel inspired Vic.
We simply must get up before dawn tomorrow and take a naked 'dip' in Carbis Bay.
Just the thing to gee us up before we have to drive home.
A weathered door.
Nice.
A weathered person wandering around the back streets of St Ives.
Howard window shopping.
Cowin' 'eck!
Even St Ives has a 50% Off Boxing Day Sale.
We are appalled.
Time for a cuppa tea.
Love the milk bottle.
Not seen one like that since Junior School.
Vicky, having bought stuff, shares a pasty with her beloved husband.
Just the job to keep us going.
Vicky's nipping in and out of shops.
David stays outside and takes photos.
Vicky buys a little sailing boat to go in our bathroom.
Bikers descend on St Ives.
Daily Mail alerted.
Vicky continues to shop.
Blimey, a second bag.
That must be it now, surely.
Leaving the harbour now.
Weather still lovely.
Gang of sanderlings looking for summat to eat.
Great place to get yer camera lens covered in sea spray.
Our national bird effortlessly enhances the Christmas atmosphere.
Back in Carbis Bay by 3:30-ish whilst it is still light.
Perfect.
6.5 miles today according to Fit Bit.
1 mile less than last time.
We're slipping.

Hayle (and hearty?): Christmas Day, 2016.

Looking SW towards Carbis bay and St Ives from the car park above Hayle beach.
It's raining that fine rain that gets you really wet, by the way.
Seaweed doing what seaweed does.
The weather is doing its best to cheer everyone up.
Don't worry, it'll be raining again in a minute.
Looking NE along the beach towards Godrevy Lighthouse.
Cornwall comes over all 'Essex'.
Food for thought.
We are now at the far NE end of Hayle beach.
It is raining harder now…….
…….but that doesn't put chaps in Santa hats off.
Curlew and wigeons on the river estuary.

Penzance, Mousehole, & Cape Cornwall: Christmas Eve, 2016.

Nice little drive to Penzance this morning.
Not too much traffic about - perhaps everyone is last-minute Christmas shopping?
Vicky is excited.
So many opportunities to take photos of fishing boats.
You spoil me, Dave.
Look Vic.
Not every boat is a fishing boat.
A gang of sanderlings and a cormorant.
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
Vicky takes some photos of fishing boats.
A couple of fishing boats looking splendid in the morning sunshine.
St Michael's Mount from Penzance.
A cream tea to help us keep going.
Wall-to-wall boats of various sorts.
David, can we go to Mousehole now?
We are in Mousehole, which is all set for its Christmas Lights Extravaganza.
Santa is in Mousehole and keeping fit for his big night.
You sit there Dave and I'll take a photo of you.
OK Vic.
Vicky and Mousehole harbour.
Next stop - St Just.
Unfortunately, St Just doesn't have a lot to make us stay but it does have a brown sign for something called Cape Cornwall so we follow it.
Cape Cornwall.
We like it already.
A Cape Cornwall selfie.
It's a bit windy here but at least it's in our backs when coming back up a slope.
One of Vicky's signature jaunty-angle-jobbies.
Rocks, waves and spray.
Brilliant.
For somewhere we had never heard of before, Cape Cornwall has been wonderful.
Something we took a photo of as we drove back to Carbis Bay Pt I.
Something we took a photo of as we drove back to Carbis Bay Pt II.
Something we took a photo of as we drove back to Carbis Bay Pt III.
Something we took a photo of as we drove back to Carbis Bay Pt IV.
