No swans to be seen in Vines Park for the second week running.

Sunday walk, Worcester: 6th September, 2020.

 

Two cygnets are downstream.

By the time we get to the jetty they've moved upstream.

Seagull gets in on the act.

We've been up to the racecourse grandstand and we're now back

to where we almost started so we give the two cygnets some

more food pellets. Well why not?

No sign of any other family members.

So these two have done well today.

Evening meal just out of the oven..........

.....and on the plates:

Salmon fillets baked with spinach, courgette, peppers and tomatoes,

served with fine green beans, potato and sweet potato wedges.

(Dessert: slices of fresh pineapple).

Some locals are more chatty than others.

The swan family is downstream as per normal.

And here they are.

CLT on toasted granary bread.

Latest cake:

Crunchy almond, raspberry and chocolate cake.

Four cygnets are upstream but there's no sign 

of the fifth (or sixth) one or the parents.

Time to investigate.

Another passing narrow boat passes by.

Five cygnets now. That's something.

Not seen the sixth one for days. Doubt if we'll see it again.

The parents are enjoying the wet grass mixed in with food pellets.

Swan family downstream again today.

There's a patterm emerging here.

The sixth cygnet is not with the family again.

This is worrying.

Today's feeding frenzy.

Such things will get less frequent now the summer is coming to a close.

Another visit to the car park at The Doc's for an INR blood test.

It's in range! Yay! Don't have to come back again for two weeks.

Vicky's lunch:

Cheese, apple, celery, and nuts by the look of things.

Evening meal:

Turkey steaks, with meditteranean vegetables, 

roasted in balsamic vinegar, with wholegrain basmati rice.

Walk to town and back, along the river and racecourse, Worcester: Tuesday, 1st September, 2020.

When we get to the parents three of the other cygnets appear from upstream.

How come we didn't see them from the wall?

No sign of the sixth and smallest/youngest of the cygnets.

Hopefully it's alright.

........'cos it's the first time we've had a cup of tea in town since the start of the pandemic.

Finished shopping (in just the one shop) and now it's time to walk home.

Buzzard high over the racecourse (Whatcha mean? It could be anything.).

This robin was on this branch singing it's heart out when we set 

off about two hours ago - and it's still here singing it's heart out.

Just like to report that we saw another kingfisher today (or the same one again).

Good that these sightings are becomeing more frequent.

Must be summat to do with the seasons or where the fish are. Can't be sure.

If we were kingfishers we'd know.
