Swan family on the river once again.

How much of this environment/habitat will remain after
Worcester Council clear the area to construct a
foot/cycle bridge connecting Gheluvelt Park to
Hallow on the other side of the river?
Not much, we reckon.

Evening meal:
Sea Bass, new potatoes, beans and brocolli,
with tomatoes.

Dessert:
Fresh fruit, yoghurt, and nuts (and seeds for Vicky).

Swans on the river again, Worcester: Wednesday, 22nd July, 2020.

Whole family respond to the shake of a container
full of swan food pellets.

The food's all gone in no time.

Baked yesterday evening:
Raspberry, blueberry and almond loaf.

Good drive here today.
No queue either.

Swan family thriving in Vines Park.

Vicky emerges from the scrum inside the supermarket.

A bit of a queue here, but not much of a delay.

Vicky's been a while.
She had to go back in 'cos she had
forgotten our weekly peanut and
chocolate shopping treat.
Can't do without it.
Keeps us going 'til lunchtime.

No sign of the swans yesterday but they are on
the river today.
Better go and feed them then.

All six cygnets present and correct.

Let's take a selfie with the cygnets in the background.
That'll work.

Evening meal:
Grilled turkey steaks and mushrooms, with mixed
salad, new potatoes, and coleslaw.

Dessert:
strawberries.

Somebody's hair needs clipping.

Swan saga continues, Pitchcoft and River Severn, Worcester: Sunday, 19th July, 2020.

The swans are up on the Pitchcroft footpath and
there's only five cygnets.

Vicky feeds them swan pellets and tries to herd the swans
back towards the river in case any dogs off the lead
should harrass them.

Well, Vicky's near the river if not the swans.

The sixth cygnet is on the river.
Phew!

The swans are back on the river.
Vicky and several other observers have
noticed that the mother swan has some
fishing line attached to one of its legs.
Vicky rings up the Wychbold Swan Rescue
to let them know.

About 20 mins later, a lady from the
Swan Rescue arrives and asks us to
help out if needed.

The lady has grabbed the swan and Vicky
moves in to assist.

Guess what?
It transpires that the fishing line is no longer attached
to the swan.
Much oatmeal is offered to the swans as consolation.
They seem grateful and, hopefully, the swan won't hold
 a grudge.

Vicky and new swan rescue aquaintance (Marilyn)
exchange numbers etc and we order some
swan food for good measure.
We are told how important this family is to the overall
population of Worcester's swans because none of the
cygnets at Diglis have survived this year.
Bit sobering.

Evening meal:
Chicken, veg and mozzarella tart (with coleslaw).

Not dessert:
Apricot and blackcurrent pastries.

Another day, another walk: Worcester: Friday, 17th July, 2020.

Plenty of folk feeding 'our' swans

Swan family update, River Severn, Worcester: Thursday, 16th July, 2020.

Vicky's breakfast:
Porridge and fruit.

Swans are on the river once again.
Dad's keeping his distance.

The cygnet we were worried
about yesterday is still alive and well.
Although it keeps getting 'bullied'
by a couple of the others.
Fingers remain crossed.

Dad's realised there's some food on offer.

Vicky's lunch:
Cheese, apple, celery and walnuts.

Evening meal:
chicken and veg pesto pasta with pine nuts.

Swans on The Severn today, Wednesday, 15th July, 2020.

All swans and cygnets present and correct.

However, the smallest (youngest?) cygnet, down the bottom
on the far left, doesn't move and doesn't eat much (if at all)
and that's a worry.
Our fingers are always crossed.

Lunch:
Salmon and Broccolli quiche, salad and coleslaw.

David's TV dinner:
Ham and salad baguette with tomatoes.

Vicky's TV dinner:
Tuna and salad baguette, tomatoes,
and salt and vinegar sticks.

Dessert:
Apricots.
