This weeks Big Shop, all the usual places, Droitwich and Blackpole: Tuesday, 7th July, 2020.

Nice drive to Droitwich today.
Only one set of Temp Traffic Lights.
No queue outside as it's a free-for-all inside
(limited to 50-ish, officially).

Ready to enter.
Vicky reported about 20% of shoppers
were wearing face masks.

Swan family in Vines Park still doing well.

No queue here either and no shoppers
wearing face masks (apart from Vicky).

David's lunch:
Cheese and onion spread and salad sammidges on
wholegrain bread, with Chicken and Vegetable soup,
followed by a fruit pot.

Vicky's lunch:
Turkey and salad sandwiches with tomatoes.

Afternoon walk along the river in search of 'our'
swan family. No sign of 'em anywhere, although
the father was on his own in the park.
(The idea behind this photo was to capture the rain beating
down on the surface of the river. That worked then.)

Evening meal:
Chicken and vegetable pasta.

Dessert:
Mixed berries, peach and apricot, with
yoghurt, fruit compot, nuts and seeds.

Busy at the post office, Worcester: Monday, 6th July, 2020.

Always busy at the Post Office on a Monday morning.
With a one-out-one-in policy the queue soon gets even longer.

David's lunch:
Cheese, Branston Pickle and salad sammidges (two on Granary bread,
two on Wholegrain), washed down with Chicken and Leek soup,
followed by a Fruit Pot for afters.

Evening meal:
Chicken and mushroom slices, with
mixed veg and new potatoes.

Fruit loaf.

A quick shake of the swan food and Bob's yer uncle.

Nine in the photo but all ten were there. Really.

Swans and six cygnets on the brook.
All's well with the world.

Evening meal:
Baked salmon with courgettes, peppers,
and tomatoes, served with sweet potato
wedges, green beans, and brocolli.

The Prodigal Returns, River Severn, Worcester: Friday, 3rd July, 2020.

One, two, three, four, five, six!
The Prodigal cygnet has returned.
So, where was it yesterday?
They put us thru' the ringer.

Only one thing for it - feed 'em.

Vicky's lunch:
Chicken salad mayo, pitta.

Evening meal:
Sea bass, tender stem brocolli, green beans,
tomatoes, and new potatoes.
Followed by fresh pineapple.

Swans lose another cygnet, River Severn, Worcester: Thursday, 2nd July, 2020.

The swans are on the river but we can't see more than
five cygnets. Time to get closer.

As the ducks join the feeding frenzy it becomes clear that
the swans have lost another cygnet.
What horrors go on during the night?
Doesn't bear thinking about really.

Vicky's lunch:
Humous with crudites and toasted pitta.

Another kitchen cupboard gets the treatment.
Must be the last one, surely.

Evening meal in the wok.

Evening meal served up:
Chicken and veg stir fry with noodles and chow mein sauce.

Dessert:
Pineapple.

No hangers on today, River Severn, Worcester: Wednesday, 1st July, 2020.

Swan family are on the river today.

Both parents and six cygnets are all present and correct.

The ten-duck-family swoop in.
Funny how word gets around.

We need more swan pellets.

Evening meal:
Chicken and vegetable kebabs, wholegrain
basmati rice and salad.

And all of the above on a plate.

Big Shop, Droitwich and Blackpole: Tuesday, 30th June, 2020.

                                

                                                Drive was much better today.

                                    Took ten minutes less and there's no queue.

Wish me luck, I'm going in.

And no queue here either.
Blimey, we'll be home in time for lunch.

Fifteen ducks and two swans on the river.
All swan pellets consumed in two minutes.

and balsamic vinegar.
