Things you see on a constitutional (well, some of them), Worcester: Tuesday, 8th November, 2016,

Heron, just upstream from The Cathedral, giving the river a good hard stare.
Council workers are busy sawing down trees along Pitchcroft.
How do they know it's time to chop a tree down?
They are all about the same age (one presumes) and height.
Do they tap 'em or summat to check whether they have got tree-rot?
It's a dark science.
Highly cropped photo No1.
Can you spot the kingfisher?
It's right at the top of the highest branch of the dead tree that's fallen into the river.
You'll have to take our word for it but it is there.
A neighbour told us that it's a good place to see them.
She's not wrong.
Saw 2 on Friday and this one today.
That's 12 sightings between us in 11 years. Prior to Friday it was 9 in 11.
That ratio, with luck, should continue to improve somewhat from now on.
Highly cropped photo No2:
Photo of a pigeon roosting in a neighbours autumnal tree taken through our kitchen window.
Vicky, just below, and driving off on a mission to various retail outlets, unfortunately, just out of shot.

the Adventures Of Sam, River Severn, Worcester, Sunday, 6th November.

If you look closely (towards the top left corner) you can spot the head, the shoulders, and the wake of Sam The Pointer as he swims at a rapid rate of knots up the freezing cold river.
We've seen plenty of dogs swimming in the river close to the bank but never one swimming in the middle of the river, against the flow and, seemingly, determined to reach Stourport in record time.
He's certainly caught our attention and that of a party of four anglers.
His owner is quite relaxed about things until we tell him that there's
no way back on to the bank if Sam goes any further.
Cue much frantic shouting of 'Sam!', and 'Here Boy!', from all concerned.
Thankfully, Sam makes a sharp turn to starboard and the anglers guide him
to the best landing spot (bottom left-hand corner).
Once reunited with his owner we can all relax and we look on as Sam trots off to complete his circuit of the racecourse oblivious to all the fuss he has caused.
An awful selfie taken much later, as we make our way home from town, to show that the lovely warm autumn days we have had lately may well be a thing of the past
and the days of multi-layers are now upon us.

Salwarpe, Wednesday, 2nd November, 2016.

10.00am-ish:
What better way to delay the start of a cardio-fit session
than to take a photo of our beautiful countryside lit up by another wonderful autumn day
from the village hall car park.
Minutes later the farmer called his cows in and they all trotted off back to the farm.

Bush or car - you decide: Worcester, Tuesday, 1st November, 2016.

This is a notorious area for car break-ins.
Perhaps the owners, having taken the considerable risk of leaving it parked here overnight,
are hoping the crims will think it is merely a bush?

Autumnals: Worcester, Monday, 31st October, 2016.

11.30-ish:
The sun is breaking through and the mist over the racecourse begins to clear.
Everything is calmness personified down by the river.
Shadows.
Autumnal selfie.
12.15-ish:
The Hive and some autumnals.
1.45-ish:
Heading home through Britannia Square where they have the nicest houses and the nicest berries.
2.15-ish:
Blue skies above Gheluvelt Park and plenty of autumnals within.
Not quite autumnals yet.
Looking back through the park as we trudge home.
Vicky's got some work to do, David's got some housework to do (ironing on a Monday & Friday)
and then we shall take stock before the dreaded Halloween folk come a-knockin'.
Hopefully, the memory of these autumnals will help us retain our sanity
as we dole sweets out to all and sundry.

Clairvoyant Auntie Louise, Tamworth, Tuesday, 25th October, 2016.

We're in the M&S cafe in Tamworth and David and Howard are meeting Wolfie for the very first time.
Auntie Louise has knitted Wolfie in the hope that he will bring The Mighty Wolves some good luck.
He's got his work cut out.
By the time we get back home Wolves have sacked their Manager.
He was in the post for less than three months!
It's an ongoing saga.

Carbis Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse (and then home): Thursday, 20th October, 2016.

7.00am-ish:
We wake up and throw open the curtains.
Not bad, eh?
The colours in the sky are subtly changing over time.
Mother Nature is really putting on a show.
Salmon-pink clouds.
Or are they apricot or peach?
Or all three?
No caption required.
Where we're heading today: Godrevy Lighthouse.
10.00am-ish:
We've had breakfast and we've just got time to enjoy the view
from the hotel terrace one last time before checking out.
Howard is ready for the drive to the lighthouse.
11.15-ish:
We've arrived at the headland overlooking the lighthouse.
Never mind the lighthouse, there's a seal colony just a few yards to the east.
Vicky and the coast to the north-east.
Taking shots of the lighthouse.
Glad to say that the rain on the horizon never came any closer.
View of St Ives Bay to the south-west.
Enough of this. Let's get back to the seal colony.
A bright-orange cattapilla-thingy braves the footpath.
We guard it until it has wriggled across safely.
Seals and pups.
Vicky has no fear of heights. Unlike some.
We've spent the best part of 2 hours watching and listening to the seals.
Now it's time to check-out the beach.
Dogs love beaches.
We love watching dogs enjoying a beach.
Olde chap enjoying the beach.
A photographer taking a photo of another photographer taking a photo.
They said it would be no more than 13 degrees max all day.
The sun is strong and we're wearing too many layers.
It's 18 degrees at least!
Rollers rolling onto the beach.
Ideal for surfers and there are plenty of surfers surfing.
Unfortunately, they are about 500 yards further down the beach
and we have run out of time to take photos of them.
Well, they're not as interesting as seals are they.
People enjoying the beach with their dogs.
2.30-ish:
It's time to find somewhere to eat (Portreath) and then head for home.
Boo!
