Gheluvelt Park twice in one walk: Tuesday, 31st July, 2018.

10:50-ish.
Another bag of swan food almost finished.
We'll buy some more at the Pump House on the way in to town.
2:15-ish.
So many people are feeding the swans today that they
don't need our fresh supply of swan food.
We'll save that for another day.
Now they are getting food from folk on Swan Bridge.
A slightly different bee from the usual type with a supply of pollen.
There are many of the more typical species.
None of whom have pollen.
What are they after? Nectar?
More questions to google then.

Cygnet and father in co-ordinated choblin' mode.
I'm ready for my close-up but, unfortunately, I've got a bit too close.
It's the start of the butterfly season.
No colourful ones about yet tho'.
The rebuilt Sons of Rest community building is now open to the public.

Summer washout continues, Pitchcroft and Gheluvelt Park: Sunday, 29th July, 2018.

3:15-ish.
Raindrops on crab apples.
Vicky reflects along Pitchcroft.
Note distinct lack of other people out and about due to the appalling summer weather.
Enjoying fresher air than of late.
Berries in the park.
Every type of bird in the park is hungry today.
One newly purchased bag of swan food gone in 5 mins flat.
Swan family glide past the bandstand.
4:15-ish.
Heading home under our umbrella.

Bouncing up off the ground and everything.
The air's fresh.
Perhaps we'll get some sleep tonight.

Gheluvelt Park walks: Friday, 27th July, 2018.

10-ish.
Our favourite cygnet is looking very animated today
as he scoffs the last of our swan food.
3:30-ish.
Bumble bee still finding summat of interest in the dried up flowers.
Working upside down is no problem for some.

Wednesday, 25 July 2018

Gheluvelt Park & Croome Park, Worcs: Wednesday, 25th July, 2018.

9:20-ish.
I'm getting big, me.
And me wings are growing.
Now givvus some swan food pronto.
Only one flowering plant in the park now with summat to attract the bumble bees.
All the other flowers have been burnt dry as a bone by this never-ending hot summer.
10:30-ish.
The view across the scorched earth of the Croome Park Serengeti from outside
St Mary Magdalene Church down towards Croome House.
Circulating around Croome House.
Croome's swan family are all still going strong
(and eating swan food).
Croome River looks enticingly cool today.
The view from Croome House and on towards
St Mary Magdalene Church.
Roger is determined to get some wild blackberries.
It's 11:30-ish now and time to drive back to Worcester.
By the time I get back home I've done 15,215 steps, 12 stairs, and 7.18 miles.

10:00-ish.
Pouring swan food down the throats of swans
(and giving some to the ducks of course).
My wings are starting to grow at last.

14,103 steps, 5 stairs, and 6.65 miles.

Saturday, 21 July 2018

Gheluvelt Park walk: Saturday, 21st July, 2018.

1:00-ish.
Some folk say I'm no longer cute.
They don't know nuffink.
Mummy, why has that lady up there come to our park without any swan food?
Olde fella, in fairly new shoes, on a walk.
Flurry of activity on the pond as folk throw bread out.
Bumble bee.
Another one.
A different type of bee on a different type of flower.
4:00-ish.
A lion of the Droitwich Serengeti from our car in the car wash.

Flowers and a busy bee working hard.

Thursday, 19 July 2018

River Severn & Gheluvelt Park, Worcester: Thursday, 19th July, 2018.

11:15-ish.
Somewhat larger than a narrow boat.
This River Severn cruise boat does a daily trip in the summer
and must be the largest boat on the river nowadays.
12:10-ish.
Another bee working hard.
You've gorra admire their unflinching dedication to repairing
all the damage mankind is doing to the planet.

Wednesday, 18 July 2018

Swan Watch and other things, Gheluvelt Park, Worcester: Wednesday, 18th July, 2018.

12:10-ish.
Berries of some sort or another.
I am no longer cute.
My feathers are all grey and scruffy.
But you wait, in a month or two I'll be dead 'ansome. Oh yes.
(Unless I'm a female, in which case I'll be gorgeous).
A busy bee.
Two busy bees.
(This photo could be upside down).
There you go. Try it the other way around.
