Carbis Bay departure (Boo!): Wednesday, 27th December, 2017.

09:00-ish:

The wind is incredibly strong today and is coming 

from the north straight down The Irish Sea.

Hence the choppy waters.

They'll be surfing in Carbis Bay today.

10:45-ish:

The sea is calmer now but it is still breezy.

15:00-ish:

The M5 at a standstill somewhere in Somerset.

The journey home from Cornwall is always twice 

as long as the one to get down there and today is no exception.

Thanks to the strong winds the A30 was closed at St Ives 

due to building debris on the road, 

and all traffic was diverted through Hayle.

Just to make it that bit more interesting, 

a wagon had broken down in the middle of the diversion, 

making it hard for traffic to pass it.

So after one hour and five minutes we had only just joined the A30.

Things got moving then but the M5 is always stop-start 

until the M4 when two-thirds of the traffic turns east 

and we can carry on our merry way home at a more sensible rate of knots.

7.5 hours in total.

Still, a great holiday and we can't wait to do it again.

Carbis Bay beach walk, Cornwall: Boxing Day, 2017.

16:15-ish:

It's bucketed down with rain all day and has only just stopped.

We drove to St Ives in the morning but it was so 

wet and miserable that we drove back straight away and 

stayed in to get some rest before tomorrows journey home.

It's already getting dark.

Don't take a photo, I'm getting my hood out.

It's a disgrace.

Rain water has carved a brand new drainage channel through the sand.

Carbis Bay walk, Cornwall: Christmas Day, 2017.

11:00-ish:

Vicky and her favourite Bay in the whole wide world.

The view to the east and Godrevy Lighthouse.

The west end of the beach.

Not walked to this end before. Don't know why.

No dolphins today but this is one of four grey seals that came over 

to have a gander at the funny people on the beach.

Vicky interrogates retriever as to why he's digging a big hole in the sand.

Retriever says nowt and keeps on digging.

I spy with my little eye….um…the other end of the beach.

Christmas Day brings out the weird and wonderful in folk evidently.

Time to cook our Christmas dinner.

Marazion & Praa Sands, Cornwall: Sunday, 24th December, 2017.

12:00-ish:

It's a tad breezy today.

Great for kite surfing (if that's what it's called).

Praa Sands.

Yet another wonderful Cornwall beach.

It's a bit bracing Vic.

It's one giant leap for Victoria.

Lizard Point & Kynance Cove, Cornwall: Saturday, 23rd December, 2017.

12:00-ish:

We have arrived at Lizard Point and guess what?

It's another steep climb down and back up.

Taking in the view from England's southernmost point.

View to the west.

We're not going down any further than this.

The Lizard Point Lighthouse (and high-pitched siren).

Gulls swirling overhead.

14:00-ish:

Kynance Cove and whatcha know?

It's yet another steep climb to enjoy.

Apart from the sound of rushing water it's dead quiet 'round here.

So, quite noisy then.
